How come getting business cards makes it all seem a bit more official?
A note: Custom in China is that you present your card by holding the upper two corners, the person receiving grabs it from the middle-bottom. It is one tradition that reminds me how formal business can be in China. Another is the fact that in larger meetings I am supposed to worry about where I sit. Evidently there is a sense of hierarchy that is observed at a meeting table. I haven't yet experienced it but I'm sure it could be comical when I do.
